Meet Your Doctor of Physical Therapy:
Dr. Tony Farina PT, MS, CSCS
Growing up as an athlete, weight training for sports looked a lot different then.
We had old, smelly weight rooms with rusty equipment, and we just lifted heavy weights without really knowing what we were doing. We hoped it would make us better at our sport, but there was no one to show us the right way or make a plan for our training year round.
Luckily, things have changed a lot for athletes today.
About 14 years ago, I learned a better way to train for sports. I saw how having a good coach and proper training could help athletes not only physically but also mentally and socially.
What began as an internship to learn about getting athletes stronger and faster, quickly became a passion. A desire to learn the intricacies of sports performance training so athletes could be their best.
After my internship, I worked as a sports performance coach for many years. I've had the opportunity to work with athletes of all levels. From youth sports through to college level, and beyond to professional and Olympic Athletes.
I saw how quality training could make a big difference in an athlete's life and career. But there was something missing.
Athletes get injured. It’s an unfortunate reality. Training is an important part of athletic development. But when injuries happen, things need to change. I was able to successfully work around injuries and continue to help athletes get stronger while recovering.
However, I had a desire to learn more. Rather than working around an injury, I wanted to address it head on and guide the athlete’s rehab process. So I became a doctor of physical therapy.
Then in 2017, I founded Pick Health & Performance (PHP) with the mission to combine my experiences in sports performance and sports medicine to bring athletes the highest quality training and rehab that they truly need.
While I continue to work with professional sports, I shifted my focus to where I could make a big impact.
Helping current and former athletes build a solid foundation that will carry them through their athletic career and life.
At PHP, I am dedicated to bringing the best training and rehab to current and former athletes so they can reach their full potential.
